Report: two teams interested in Paxten Aaronson

It should come as no surprise that the Philadelphia Union’s Paxten Aaronson is already receiving international interest. The 18-year-old is just starting his professional career, but new reports indicate European teams are already keeping a close eye on the Union’s homegrown midfielder.
According to reports, Red Bull Salzburg and Leipzig have shown interest in Aaronson, as he looks to follow in the same footsteps as his brother Brenden Aaronson. Brenden transferred to RB Salzburg from the Union last offseason.
Aaronson had 3 goals in his first MLS season in nearly 600 minutes with the Union. He started five matches and appeared in 14 overall, making a splash in the playoffs as the Union dealt with COVID health and safety protocols.
He also made his international debut for the USMNT U20 squad in November. The homegrown talent is already ahead of schedule and will look to make a huge impact the Union roster in 2022.Â
Paxten Aaronson’s Future in Philly
In the fall of 2020, Aaronson spent time training with Werder Bremen, following a very similiar path that his brother has taken in his journey to the Austrian Bundesliga and USA Mens Senior National Team.
Regardless, it’s probably still too early for Paxten Aaronson to make a move to Europe. He will likely spend the next few seasons developing in the MLS before making the jump to a more competitive league like the Austrian Bundesliga.
