JJ Arcega-Whiteside’s mother seems to be on Twitter defending her son’s inability to catch a football due to finger injury

During the Eagles’ Week 18 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, JJ Arcega-Whiteside had the opportunity to catch a touchdown pass from Gardner Minshew but instead, in typically Arcega-Whiteside fashion, let the ball hit him right in the numbers and was unable to secure it for the score.
JJ Arcega-Whiteside Drops Wide Open Touchdown
With almost all of the Eagles’ starters on offense resting in Week 18 with a playoff berth already secured, Arcega-Whiteside had his moment to shine and instead of making the most of it, he fell short yet again. On the season, Arcega-Whiteside had just two receptions for 36 yards.
During his three year career with the Eagles, he’s only tallied 16 receptions for 290 yards, and one touchdown. All of this is extremely disappointing from the 2019 second round draft pick, so of course Eagles fans are upset with him, even more so, when a majority of them placed Anytime TD Scorer bets in Week 18 and had to witness that play above.
Earlier this week, Arcega-Whiteside was placed on injured reserve with a finger injury. On Twitter, the severity of the injury was shown in a picture from a new Twitter account, which seems to be Arcega-Whiteside’s mother. Doesn’t look great. Check it out.

Valorie Whiteside replied to some Tweets that featured the video above with a picture of what apparently is Arcega-Whiteside’s hand and a finger that’s all bent out of shape. She stated that he tore ligaments and tendons in his finger on the first play of the game and it was dangling all game and that Arcega-Whiteside was trying to help his team no matter what, even at the expense of his own health.
So the injury report and him being on the injured reserve with a finger injury checks out. I can’t confirm if that account or photo is real, but even if it was, are we really jumping to Arcega-Whiteside’s defense over a finger injury?
I’m definitely not going to do that, especially on the dropped touchdown pass. He literally didn’t even touch the ball with his hands. It hit him square in the numbers and bounced off his pads onto the ground. You’re going to tell me that a 6’3, 225 pound NFL wide receiver can’t catch a pass with one bad finger?
Hell, I’m no amazing athlete but I’m caught footballs one handed back in the day. Seems like the finger, regardless if it is dangling off of you, is a non-issue here. Arcega-Whiteside is literally an NFL player, tape that finger up and get back out there, man. You don’t need your mother going on Twitter and trying to defend you because of an oddly bent finger. Ridiculous.
I don’t want to hear anything about “show some sympathy” from anyone. Hell, I wasn’t even supposed to write this article. Jack Connell of The Liberty Line had a draft in here about “scrolling at your own risk” before the finger photo and how we should “cut him some slack” on this one, while adding his mother should have “given Twitter warning” before posting this photo.
So now, I am rewriting this entire article calling Jack Connell and JJ Arcega-Whiteside the two biggest babies in the city of Philadelphia not named Ben Simmons.
It’s a finger dude. Get over it. Tape it up and catch the damn football or don’t play. It’s not like we could rely on you to catch anything before Week 18 anyways.
Ugh. One day closer to the playoffs.
