Darius Slay gets disrespectful amount of All-Pro votes, proves that all voters are closet Dallas fans

Eagles corner Darius Slay has certainly had an All-Pro caliber season.

The people who vote for these selections apparently didn’t think so. The full vote totals for the 2021 NFL All-Pro team were released today — with Big Play Slay receiving just one vote:

  • Trevon Diggs (DAL): 33
  • Jalen Ramsey (LAR): 32
  • JC Jackson (NE): 25
  • AJ Terrell (ATL): 8
  • Darius Slay (PHI): 1
  • Marshon Lattimore (NO): 1

I’m not sure what the qualifications are to be able to vote on these things — but they evidently need to be raised. Slay had three defensive touchdowns in 2021 while shutting down the opposing team’s best receiver.

For the sake of conversation, I have attached a table comparing the performances of Trevon Diggs and Darius Slay this season:

Darius SlayTrevon Diggs
Coverage Grade83.966.7
Receptions Allowed4455
Yards Allowed4591,016
Interceptions311
Touchdowns35
Pass Breakups89
Stats via PFF

Interceptions clearly hold a lot of weight in these polls; but the majority of the votes going to a corner who allowed the most yards in coverage this season, by a wide margin, is humorous.

Slay allowed just 28.6 receiving yards per game this season — and he covered top wideouts such as Amari Cooper, Mike Evans, and DJ Moore.

Trevon Diggs could literally get cooked by a receiver for 200 yards but get an interception off a batted pass and Dallas fans would scream “LOCKDOWN” from the mountaintops. I shouldn’t be surprised though — America’s Team.

Trust that Slay won’t forget about it anytime soon either.
