Eagles News: two players selected to Pro Bowl, 3 players snubbed

Two Eagles have been selected to the Pro Bowl for the 2021 season.

C Jason Kelce has been named to his third consecutive Pro Bowl, 5th overall in his career. CB Darius Slay was also named to the NFC roster, making this his 4th selection.

Kelce has been the anchor in the middle of the offensive line for the Eagles, starting in 119 consecutive games. In 14 games this season, Kelce has only allowed one sack and has led the way for the top-ranked rushing attack in the league.

On the other side of the ball, Darius Slay has played at an All-Pro level this season. He’s shut down top receivers such as Amari Cooper, Mike Evans, and DJ Moore while finding his way into the endzone.

Big Play Slay leads the NFL with three defensive touchdowns and has been stingy in pass coverage as well. Don’t be surprised if you hear his name in the conversation for Defensive Player of the Year.

Snubs

K Jake Elliott

During a season where kickers have struggled to stay consistent, Elliott has been just that for the Eagles. Elliot is justย one of four kickers to make every extra-point attempt this seasonย (min. 20 attempts) and has connected on 92% of his field-goal attempts.

Rams kicker Matt Gay, who has only missed one FG all year, got the nod ahead of Elliott.

RT Lane Johnson

Johnson has allowed just one sack and zero QB hits on the year, continuing to have his way with defenders — regardless of who’s next to him.

DT Javon Hargrave

Hargrave had a monster start to the season, racking up six sacks in the first five games. His production has tailed off since then but is still generating pressure.

Per PFF, Hargrave is ranked 3rd in the league in pass rush behind Aaron Donald and Jonathan Allen. Through 14 games, Hargrave has 8 sacks, 17 QB hits and 8 tackles for loss.
