Eagles Javon Hargrave named a 2022 Pro Bowl alternate

Another Eagle will be heading to the Pro Bowl next month. Earlier this afternoon, it was announced defensive tackle Javon Hargrave was named to the 2022 Pro Bowl as an alternate for injured Green Bay Packers lineman Kenny Clark.
This will be Hargrave’s first Pro Bowl appearance of his career, and it’s well deserved. The Eagles’ DT will be joining Jason Kelce, and Darius Slay in Las Vegas next week as the team’s three participants.
Other defensive linemen for the NFC in the Pro Bowl include Aaron Donald of the Los Angeles Rams and Jonathan Allen of the Washington Football Team.
During the 2021 season, Hargrave had career-highs across the board, recording 7.5 sacks, nine tackles for loss, 18 quarterback hits, and 63 tackles. According to PFF, he had the second-highest pass-rush grade among all starting DTs with a 91.5.
Hargrave started the season on a historic pace, but unfortunately fell off for the second half of the year. A large reason for this was opposing offensive lines switched their double teams from Fletcher Cox towards Hargrave.
The 28-year-old will be due for a big payday next season, with 2022 being the final year of his contract with the Eagles. With the restructured contract of recently retired Brandon Brooks, the Eagles should have the cap space to bring Hargrave back. The 2022 Pro Bowl will take place next Sunday, February 6th, at 3:00 PM on ABC.
