Wells Fargo Center, Wendy’s, take shots at Ben Simmons following James Harden trade

Hey if you haven’t heard already, the Philadelphia 76ers completed a blockbuster acquisition of James Harden for Ben Simmons before the 3PM NBA trade deadline today. Now that you’re all caught up, social media has been killer, taking more shots at Simmons on his way to Brooklyn.
One of the first people to comment on the trade was the 76ers’ home arena, the Wells Fargo Center. The WFC twitter account sent out the following tweet, marking the next time the Philadelphia 76ers face the Brooklyn Nets at home on March 10, 2022, including the signature Ben Simmons emoji.
Look, I highly doubt Ben Simmons will be playing on March 10th. It’s more likely the Nets will use this time and run with a headline that says “Ben Simmons is ramping up his workouts and will get back into game shape to make his Nets debut (inside middle of March here).”
Regardless, the Wells Fargo Center jumped on the opportunity to hype up the game as a potential return of Ben Simmons to South Philadelphia. From there, Wendy’s came over the top with a frosty .gif, taking a clear shot at Ben Simmons and his inability to make a free throw, meaning free frosty’s for all.
Honestly, anyone who thinks Ben Simmons is returning to Philadelphia so soon is delirious. I wouldn’t be surprised if he pulls a Kyrie Irving and doesn’t return to South Philly at all this season.
Irving and Simmons are now teammates and who knows how that is going to work out. I’d like to think Irving will rub off on Simmons and that Ben will pull a move like Irving did, when he didn’t return to Boston for nearly three seasons.
On top of those videos, you have this edit from NBA2K of what it would look like if Simmons did return to the Wells Fargo Center.
Good riddance, Ben. As someone who strongly supported you throughout EVERYTHING, I couldn’t be happier that you’re out of the city and cannot WAIT to see if you ever have the balls to show your face in Philadelphia again.
