Former Eagles quarterback lands in the USFL, Philadelphia Stars roster revealed

Last night was the USFL’s inaugural draft, and the Philadelphia Stars missed an opportunity to bring an Eagles legend back home. Former Eagles QB Clayton Thorson was selected 5th overall by the Houston Gamblers. The Stars ended up with Bryan Scott with the 3rd pick.

Thorson was selected in the 5th round by the Eagles in the 2019 NFL Draft. The Northwestern rookie was so bad he didn’t even make the final roster, being waived during training camp.

He then bounced around the NFC East before landing in the newly revived league, and it will hopefully jumpstart his career. Some notable QBs around the USFL include former Michigan QB Shea Patterson, former Giants quarterback Kyle Lauletta, and Jordan Ta’amu.

The rest of the Philadelphia Stars’ roster is pretty unrecognizable. Some of their picks include Freedom Akinmoladun, Gus Cumberlander, Carroll Philips, and Michael Rodriguez III.

While we might not be excited, our resident fan club, The Sons of Patrick, are pumped about the Stars’ latest additions. Philadelphia and the rest of the USFL will start training camp on March 21st, with the regular season starting shortly after. And even though they hold the Philadelphia moniker, all games will take place in Birmingham, Alabama.
