Jason Kelce reworks contract with Eagles, becomes highest-paid center in football

The Philadelphia Eagles are giving Jason Kelce a one-year $14 million contract, making him the highest paid center in the National Football League.
Look, Jason Kelce is obviously deserving of this contract but you already know that. He dominated last season and was named to his fourth All-Pro team and more importantly, stayed healthy, anchoring one of the best offensive lines in football.
When Kelce signed a two-year deal last off-season, it was only a two-year contract in writing. According to Jeremy Fowler, the original stipulation was that Eagles would owe Kelce over $30 million if he wasn’t cut by June 2nd.
It’s currently unknown how Kelce’s contract is structured, but it will almost certainly take a decent chunk out of Philadelphia’s cap space. Honestly, it doesn’t matter. Jason Kelce could name his price and regardless of the number, he would be worth the contract. It’s worth every penny to retain the best center in football for another season.
Free agency starts up on Monday afternoon, with players not being able to sign any contracts until Wednesday. Philadelphia has several other players hitting free agency like Derek Barnett, Rodney McLeod, and Steven Nelson.
