Haason Reddick attempts to recruit former Temple teammate to Eagles

Haason Reddick has only been an Eagle for a few days, and he’s already been doing some recruiting for his new team. Yesterday the Washington Commanders shockingly released defensive tackle Matt Ioannidis after telling him to his face they were keeping him.
Shortly after, Reddick took to Twitter in an attempt to bring the defensive tackle to Philadelphia. Ioannidis and Reddick played at Temple together, with Matt growing up in New Jersey.
The Eagles are still looking to upgrade their defensive line as they plan to host Georgia DT Devonte Wyatt for a Pre-Draft visit. During the 2021 season, Ioannidis struggled, having just 2.5 sacks in 16 games.
Despite that, before an injury-riddled 2020 season, the Commanders DT recorded 8.5 sacks, 11 tackles for loss, and 16 quarterback hits. During that successful 2019 season, Ioannidis played defensive end, something he’s still capable of.
It’s hard to see this as a realistic possibility since the Eagles have numerous other holes and very limited cap space currently. We have seen several players take cheaper contracts to play for a rival after a team spurred them like this. Eagles fans remember this with Desean Jackson when Chip Kelly let him go in 2014.
