Eagles draft target suffers lower-body injury during Pro Day

During Michigan’s Pro Day this morning, edge rusher David Ojabo suffered a lower-body injury during a pass-rushing drill that resulted in him needing to be helped off the field.

Throughout the entire draft process, Ojabo has been projected to be one of the Eagles’ top targets in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Ojabo went down, clutching his left leg, but scouts and spectators were unable to tell what exactly occurred. Regardless, this is devastating news for one of the top prospects just a month away from the draft.

While Aidan Hutchinson was the star of the Michigan defense, David Ojabo had 11.0 sacks and five forced fumbles of his own last season. At 6’5″ 250 pounds, Ojabo has tremendous speed and shiftiness for a guy his size.

The best-case scenario is the Michigan edge rusher suffered a sprain or something short-term that won’t linger into OTAs or training camp. If he did tear his ACL, Ojabo could slip out of the first round entirely.

Although the Eagles acquired Haason Reddick during free agency, they still intend to upgrade their defensive line through the draft. Georgia DT Devonte Wyatt said Philadelphia plans to bring him in on a pre-draft visit with others likely on the way.

The upcoming draft is a big one for the Eagles, who have three first-round selections. If Ojabo’s injury is severe, he could potentially be a second-round steal.
