Preview: Phillies take on the Toronto Blue Jays in their first televised Spring Training game

The Philadelphia Phillies play their first televised baseball game of Spring Training today, taking on the Toronto Blue Jays at 1:05 EST.
Aaron Nola is set to take the hill for the Phillies, making his first start of Spring Training. Nola is coming off an up and down season in 2021, finishing 9-9 with a 4.63 ERA. The team is set to throw multiple pitchers today, including Damon Jones, Francisco Morales, and Nick Nelson.
All signs are pointing to Nola taking the hill on Opening Day at Citizens Bank Park. Zack Wheeler has been said to be behind schedule so far this spring. On top of that, the Phillies ace caught the flu just last week. As things stand today, it looks like Aaron Nola will be your 2022 Opening Day starter for the 5th year in a row.

Phillies stars Jean Segura, Bryce Harper, JT Realmuto, Rhys Hoskins, and Didi Gregorius will all get their first starts of spring training today. We’ll also get our first true taste of the National League DH. Bryce Harper is set to designated hit today, with Luke Williams in left field.
Just last night, the team signed Nick Castellanos to a 5-year, $100M contract. The team has now inked two star-outfielders in Schwarber and Castellanos, giving them many options for their outfield. Bryce Harper and Rhys Hoskins both heard the Castellanos news this morning when they woke up, and neither could have been any happier.
Phillies baseball is back. The Fightin’s will take the field today at 1:05 vs the Toronto Blue Jays for their first televised game of the Spring. Harper, JT, and Hoskins will all be in the lineup, as the team looks to get their first win down in Clearwater. Catch this game on NBC Sports Philadelphia.
