Bryce Harper NFT announced for 2022 MLB ICONS Leadoff Series’ first release

MLB announced a Bryce Harper NFT as part of the new 2022 MLB ICONS Leadoff Series. Per Todd Zolecki, the new series has a release date set for mid-April and will include other Phillies like Matt Vierling and Zach Eflin (weird choices to accompany an NL MVP, but go for it). Here’s Zolecki’s original tweet with a link to buy your own if that’s your thing.
While the mainstream media beat us to the announcement, The Liberty Line was able to obtain an exclusive first look at mlb.candy.com‘s design.
Without further ado, here’s a sneak peak at the newest Bryce Harper NFT:

Wow, I genuinely have to say I’m stunned.
The people at MLB are not only aware Bryce is an ass man, but they’re also fully embracing it. And what better way to do that than putting his love for the Philly Phanatic – the juiciest mascot in all of sports – in their new NFT series.
I’ve been skeptical about NFTs from the jump, but this particular project has gotten my attention. Nobody would be surprised to see this hanging in the MoMA or Art Museum, a welcome departure from the low-level art plaguing the NFT space.
Be sure to mark your calendars for April 12th and 19th. Even if you’re not buying one yourself, it will be interesting to see what the artistic vision for the collection turns out to be. I’m certainly optimistic after seeing the Warhol-meets-Picasso vibe of this first offering.
How do you feel about the look of this Bryce Harper NFT? I don’t actually care and don’t read comments, but leave your thoughts anyway.
