Media Blackout: Phillies fans get zero credit for Alec Bohm ovation after “hate it here” comments

After coughing up three errors at third base during the Phillies 5-4 victory over the New York Mets on Monday night, Alec Bohm was caught on video telling shortstop Didi Gregorius “I fucking hate it here” after Phillies fans sarcastically cheered him for making a play on a routine ground ball.
Alec Bohm: I Fucking Hate It Here
Needless to say, Phillies fans weren’t too happy. Sure, we knew that Alec Bohm was bad a defense, but to have three errors in three innings, two of which that came on routine ground balls, is pretty terrible so of course you’re going to hear it from the fans.
What came as a surprise, was the fact that immediately following the game, Alec Bohm straight up admitted that he did say he hates it here in his post game press conference.
Bohm did say that he hates this fucking place and honestly, it was refreshing to hear a Philadelphia athlete get smothered by the media and just end the entire story by being completely honest with what happened.
Bohm instantly became the most relatable Philly athlete in the city. After dealing with so much drama on our other sports teams, from Carson Wentz to Ben Simmons, it was refreshing and hopefully it will set the tone for future athletes in Philly.
One thing that hopefully more athletes in Philadelphia will realize, is that if you don’t bullshit fans, they will always love you. Philly fans pay way too much attention to every little detail with their sports teams and the last thing they want to hear is excuses.
That was on full display last night as Alec Bohm came to the plate as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning.
Alec Bohm Standing Ovation
Media Blackout
You can’t possibly tell me that if Alec Bohm got booed last night when pinch hitting that ESPN and every other major sports news network wouldn’t have lead with the story on every program this morning.
It really shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that because Philly fans didn’t fit the media’s typical lying narrative as being the worst people on earth, this moment got zero love this morning outside of Philadelphia.
Hell, even Nick Castellanos who just arrived in Philadelphia couldn’t believe what happened. The national media has hammered these horrible narratives into everyone’s heads.
“Hats off to the city of Philadelphia for having their player’s back like that. Was incredible.”
No one likes us, we don’t care. Just be honest with fans and we’ll respect you. The majority of times, we hate it here too. Cheers Bohmer.
