Report: JJ Arcega-Whiteside set to switch positions for the Eagles in 2022

It’s been a rough road for former second-round pick JJ Arcega-Whiteside.

Touted as one of the top possession receivers in the draft, the Eagles selected JJAW in 2019 to be the heir to Alshon Jeffery. His Stanford production failed to translate to the NFL, totaling just 16 catches for 290 yards over his three-year career in Philadephia.

All hope isn’t lost for Arcega-Whiteside, however. Per the Philadelphia Inquirer’s Jeff McLane, JJAW is transitioning from wide receiver to tight end for the 2022 season.

I’ve joked about a potential position change for JJAW in the past, but after adding weight to his 6’2″, 225-pound frame this winter, he’s reportedly fully embraced the change.

Arcega-Whiteside has been one of the top-graded run blockers in recent years. With no immediate backup for Dallas Goedert, JJAW may be able to resurrect his career at tight end.
