Former 76er Ben Simmons likes tweets from clueless apologists

Former Sixer and Waldo impersonator Ben Simmons has been busy on social media today, liking and retweeting posts apologizing to him for their comments about him during his historic 2021-2022 season. This came after the Brooklyn Nets announced he would undergo back surgery today, which was successful by all accounts.
As much as I hate Simmons, some of the discourse around him was highly toxic. I think apologizing to a pro athlete on Twitter is a total waste of time, but if it’s just for your own comments, I guess that’s fine. However, we had someone take a little too far.
Here is a GROWN MAN demanding an apology for Ben Simmons:
I don’t know who Doc Holliday is, but he needs to sit this one out. Back injury or not, Simmons deserves nothing from anybody. Let him demand an apology himself instead of doing it for him. He sounds like Russell Westbrook’s wife, for Christ’s sake.
You know what? This man is the fabled Shaolin Master of dick riding. If you can make your way through the 36 Chambers of Dick Riding, this man is the final boss. Please, put your phone down and self-reflect.
Even so, he wasn’t the only person to get on Twitter once the news of Simmons’ back surgery broke. Ben seemed to appreciate the apologies, dropping likes left and right. Here are just a few of them:

Between this like-spree and the post-op IG selfie, Simmons must really be feeling himself post-back surgery. But, hey, anesthesia will do that to a man. After one of my surgeries, I went back and forth between doing an impression of Don Corleone and trying to convince the nurse I could drive home. So, I can’t be too mad at him for liking some tweets.
As much as I dislike him with every fiber of my being, I wish Ben Simmons an easy recovery. And that’s even though the amount of hate I have in my heart has caused me to believe the surgery is a hoax.
I could make some grand, bloviating observation about how this behavior proves Simmons has learned nothing from all of this, but honestly? What’s the point?
I have a playoff series featuring a Doc Rivers-led team missing its MVP finalist to watch. Far more important things to attend to here in Philadelphia.
