Andy Reid gives assessment on Jalen Hurts, shares thoughts on Philly fans

Jalen Hurts earned a lot of respect around the league following his first full season as a starter.
Among the latest to show their admiration for the young quarterback is former Eagles’ head coach Andy Reid.
During his recent appearance on JAKIB Media’s Sports Take, Reid was asked about his impression of Hurts and the expectations for him moving forward.
“It takes time, normally it takes four years before you get in the flow as a quarterback in this league.
The one thing you got there is a guy that’s willing to work hard and wants to be great. He sincerely wants to do well. That’s the foundation — and with the coaching he’s getting from Nick [Sirianni], that’s gonna take place.”

Reid has been involved with his fair share of accomplished passers from Donovan McNabb to Michael Vick to Patrick Mahomes.
With 30 years of NFL coaching experience, praise from someone of Reid’s caliber goes a long way. He knows a talented quarterback when he sees one.
Hurts finished his 2021 campaign throwing for 3,144 yards on 61% completion, 16 touchdowns and nine interceptions while rushing for 784 yards and adding ten scores on the ground.
With shiny new receiver AJ Brown in Philadelphia, many are expecting Hurts to take a big leap in his development next season. If he underwhelms, the Eagles may consider a new QB with their multiple first-round selections in next year’s draft.
Big Red was also asked to describe Philadelphia fans in one word and continued to be positive with his remarks.
“I’d say great. I’d also tell you they’re well educated in the sport. Always felt like they were on the same page as the coach. If you did well, they were all in, and they were honest. They didn’t hesitate to voice their opinion.”
Reid coached the Eagles from 1999 to 2012, leading the team to six division titles, five NFC Championship Games and a Super Bowl appearance.
