Report: Venezia FC are finalizing permanent signing of Union’s Jack de Vries

It looks like we have another Union homegrown sale being finalized. According to Tom Bogert of MLSSoccer.com, Philadelphia is in the final stages of a deal to keep Jack de Vries with Venezia FC, where he’s been on loan with since Summer 2021.
de Vries was one of the Union Academy’s best goal scorers but never really made an impact at the professional level. He only logged 15 minutes for the Union before a concussion kept him off the field. Right after de Vries was looking to make his return, the Union loaned him to Venezia in August 2021.
Jack de Vries was playing consistently with the U19 team and as a member of Venezia, scored 14 goals and six assists for the youth level Italian club.

Assuming this deal is finalized, de Vries would be the second Union alum in Serie B. Anthony Fontana signed with Ascoli Calcio 1898 FC in February.
