Apple adds edit, unsend feature in new iOS update and not one Gen Z kid has thanked me, a millennial, for years of suffering to finally get to this point

I have zero clue what #WWDC22 is but apparently it’s some big, nerd-filled technology event that for whatever reason, people care about. At the event, our tech overlords at Apple revealed some new features from iOS 16, once of which will all you to edit and unsend text messages.
Engadget – Apple will soon allow you to take back messages you didn’t really want to send. The upgraded Messages app in iOS 16 is getting a new “undo send” feature, as well as the ability to edit chats you’ve already sent and mark threads as unread.
The new message-recalling and editing features will only apply to “recently sent” chats, with a 15-minute window for making changes. Apple will also allow users to recover deleted messages for a period of up to 30 days.
Side Note: Lamb Chop? Ew. Who talks to people like that. It’s only been an hour and you already miss lamb chop and you’re sending emoji’s and saying “luv” instead of love? This is a horrible example and whoever sent that text message needs therapy.
Every time there are new things released on iPhones I often wonder how long Apple has been sitting on a specific idea and just waiting for another dumb conference to unveil a “new feature.”
To think that they just figured out how to allow people to unsend messages is ridiculous.
G-Mail has given us the ability to unsend emails and I’m pretty sure Instagram DMs can be unsent as long as the person receiving them hasn’t read the message yet so spare me if I’m not overly excited about Apples “new” unsend feature while they are building their blood-phones on slave labor in China.
Regardless, this feature is obviously clutch for a variety of reasons. If you’re a young Gen Z kid and stumbling home from your college bar, firing off text after text hoping one lands with a girl on the other end at 2:30 in the morning, congratulations. Now you don’t have to worry about looking at your phone the next morning and reliving whatever sick messages you were firing out there like a complete animal the night before.
The younger generation has it made. Back in my day, you would have to call a house line late night and pray to god that the girl you’re trying to reach is waiting for your call and her parents don’t pick up the phone. Either that, or you’re staring at your shared desktop computer waiting to see if she will log onto AIM at any given moment.
God forbid you have to go out and knock on a girls window, sneak out, or have a girl sneak into one of the tiny windows of your parents. I’m pretty sure they arrest people nowadays for doing stuff like that. Now? You can delete texts and have your own phone, music and whatever else you’re into literally at your finger tips 24 hours a day.
I sound like an angry old man but damn, talk about getting everything spoon fed to you on a silver platter. There’s no more technology struggles for the younger generation and I can’t think of one Gen Z’er that has ever thanked me, a millennial trailblazer, for what my generation has done for them and the struggles that we went through to reach this point. Ridiculous.
