Herr’s unveils 3 new “Flavored by Philly” chip flavors

If you’ve eaten a bag of chips in the Delaware Valley, there’s a decent chance it was made by Herr’s. The Nottingham, PA-based food company has long been a staple for Philadelphians. Now, they are paying homage to their loyal customers in a way that is… interesting, to say the least.
Today, Herr’s announced their new “Flavored by Philly” line of chips:
I sat down to write this blog with a negative attitude towards these new Herr’s flavors, but I can’t lie; my interest is piqued.
Here’s a quick rundown of the new releases:
- 215 Special Sauce (salt, pepper, ketchup, hot sauce)
- Long Hots & Sharp Provolone
- Wiz Wit
I can do without the first and third options, but the Long Hots & Sharp Provolone stands out as the star of the bunch. Even though I’m a wiz wit guy for my cheesesteaks, I will likely have to pass on this one.
Potentially nauseating flavor profiles aside, my biggest gripe with Herr’s is the statement, “Philly! We heard you!” I don’t feel heard at all
When did this happen? I would have had loads of good chip ideas. Herr’s played all the hits, but a deep cut to shout out a lesser-known part of city life would have been cool.
My idea is a pierogi-flavored chip to honor the Polish diaspora in the city. It tastes like potatoes. Hold the applause. I know; I am a culinary genius.
I really am looking forward to trying the long hot chips. I’ve put chips on a sandwich with long hots and sharp provolone countless times. I’m curious to see how it all comes together.
