Joel Embiid takes a subtle shot at John Collins after he gets destroyed in the Drew League
The ongoing feud between Joel Embiid and Atlanta Hawks John Collins received a small spark yesterday after Embiid liked a tweet about John Collins getting destroyed at during a Drew League game.
The beef between John Collins and Joel Embiid dates back years. The Athletic released an article when the 76ers and Hawks were matched up in the playoffs a few years back.
How it Started
Three years ago Joel Embiid cracked some jokes about his buddy and former teammate Justin Anderson was driving around Atlanta with John Collins when Embiid called Anderson. Embiid was cracking jokes about Anderson joining a “rebuilding franchise”. Here’s a clip from the article on The Athletic.
“You guys suck! You guys can’t even get on TNT, and you’re in Atlanta!” Embiid loudly screamed into the phone, as Anderson recalled with The Athletic at the time.”
Apparently that hurt John Collins feelings because he’s a baby and doesn’t understand a good joke.
Then of course, you have the playoffs where Embiid was fined $35,000 after getting into it with Collins and Trae Young. To note, no one else was fined for this altercation. Embiid was the only person to be reprimanded by the NBA because as we all know by now, the NBA Deep State is real and they unapologetically Hate The Process.

Collins then wore a t-shirt during media availability after the Hawks beat the 76ers in the second round of the playoffs featuring a picture of him dunking on Joel Embiid. I’m not posting a video of the dunk but just so we’re all on the same page, Collins basically put Embiid in a chokehold and it was a clear foul that was never called by the officials. (Go Figure).
All of this brings us to yesterday, when Joel Embiid liked a tweet about John Collins getting destroyed in the Drew League.
“Tough day for John Collins at the Drew League. Got postered, became the 1st NBA player to foul out at the Drew and he and Trae Young’s squad lost…”
Tough day indeed, Johnny boy. Joel Embiid is out there living his best life debuting new wines with James Harden and attending a million different Michael Rubin parties while Collins and Trae are getting owned in the Drew League. These two are not the same. They never will be. Embiid is god. Collins trash.
