Stephen A Smith had no idea that Jalen Reagor was traded to Minnesota last week

Stephen A Smith got caught red handed not keeping up with any type of NFL news today on First Take. During a segment debating the NFC East with Chris “Mad Dog” Russo on First Take, Smith had zero clue that Jalen Reagor was traded to the Minnesota Vikings.
Watch: Stephen A Smith didn’t know Jalen Reagor was traded
It’s one thing to be an average talking head and slip up on this kind of thing. But this is not an average talking head. Stephen A Smith is the face of ESPN. No matter how you slice it, this is a bad look.
It was pretty big news that Jalen Reagor was traded to the Minnesota Vikings. You know, the team that took Justin Jefferson immediately after him in the first round of the 2020 Draft? It was memorably ironic.
How can you call yourself the worldwide leader in sports when your star attraction on your flagship show isn’t aware of something this basic.
Don’t they prep for segments?
They have time to shellac corpse paint onto Mad Dog’s face but not enough time to give their panelists the bullet points about the next topic they’ll discuss? It’s hard to believe a guy that used to write for the Inquirer could be so wildly out of touch with the city that launched his career.
The reality is that Stephen A Smith spends so much time firing off hot takes and debating that he’s not actually focused on actual news.Honestly he shouldn’t be. ESPN isn’t getting views through thoughtful analysis and highlights.
Especially not highlights.
I can see every relevant highlight of every sporting event in the world on my phone within seconds.
So can you. So can everybody.
ESPN has outlived its usefulness. Now all it can do is have people scream at each other and try to score imaginary points like they’re playing an unending game of “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” every day until the Sun goes supernova and swallows the Earth.
