The Brett Favre welfare scandal continues to unwind- now involves Sage Rosenfels

Brett Favre has found himself at the center of a massive scandal and this time around, we’re not talking about disgusting photos being sent to reporters.
Unless you live under a rock, you’ve probably seen plenty of references to him stealing money from Mississippi’s state welfare program to secure funds in order to build a volleyball stadium for his daughter’s college team at Southern Miss.
It’s a bizarre story.
In 2017, Brett Favre wanted to raise funds for a volleyball facility and somehow wound up getting paid out of the state’s welfare fund that is intended to help its poorest citizens to get it built. The recent release of some problematic text messages between him and Southern Miss athletic staffer Nancy New seem to point to legal trouble ahead for the Hall of Fame quarterback.
“If you were to pay me is there anyway the media can find out where it came from and how much?” Favre wrote, according to court documents filed last week in Jackson.
“No, we never have had that information publicized. I understand you being uneasy about that though. Let’s see what happens on Monday with the conversation with some of the folks at Southern. Maybe it will click with them. Hopefully,” New responded.

Clearly, the text messages seem to indicate that Favre knew something was fishy about the way he was receiving the money and as it turns out, that’s exactly the case.
Brett Favre has become public enemy number one online
So of course, since these texts and his involvement in the scandal became public, there has been a loud and persistent call for him to be held accountable. Obviously he still hasn’t been charged with anything, but the internet has already seen enough evidence.
Now even his former back up during his time with the Vikings, Sage Rosenfels is dunking on him on Twitter.
Being the butt of viral tweets might be the least of Favre’s worries very soon. The former director of Mississippi’s welfare fund, John Davis, just pled guilty to conspiracy to commit fraud and theft.
John Davis was reported to have been heavily involved in talks with the retired quarterback about paying for the volleyball arena.
My crime reporting experience may mostly be confined to Chick-Fil-A assaults caught on camera, but this seems serious and it looks like Brett Favre may be in big trouble in the very near future.
I would like to extend everyone’s outcry a bit further outside of Brett Favre. If he’s finding ways to use government money for his own benefit, then you have to assume that LITERALLY EVERY POLITICIAN IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is likely doing the same exact thing, and probably at a larger scale. Let’s keep this train moving and start making some real change in this country, shall we?
