Good News for Cam York: Top Prospect Designated Day-to-Day
Cam York suffered an injury that had most people thinking his season was going to take a dramatic and dark turn. You can read more of my writing on the ugliness: here. There has since been an update on Cam York’s status. Like most things in Philadelphia sports these days, the vibes are unmistakably positive.
Good News for Cam York
The designation of “day-to-day” is generally good news. While it may be good news here, I’m afraid we are dealing with the Philadelphia Flyers.
The “day-to-day” label with this franchise could mean anything from: he’ll be firing on all cylinders by Thursday to his career is over. We have seen both in the last year with this team.
Ivan Provorov was considered day-to-day during the preseason, and he ended up playing the first game. He hasn’t missed a game since, and he’s been robotically playing excellent hockey for 23 minutes a night, like usual.
Cam Atkinson was considered day-to-day during the preseason, and he ended up never making the first game. Or any of the other games after that. Actually, now nobody is sure when we can see Atkinson suit up for the Flyers again.
Then there’s the Ryan Ellis situation, who saw his status “evolve” from day-to-day to week-to-week, and finally: season-to-season.
So I will take the good news for what it is while being ever mindful that I’m dealing with the Flyers… and situations tend to “evolve” an awful lot around here.
