Look, I know this video was trending online all day yesterday but honestly, I’m not impressed in the slightest.
Being a West Virginia University alumni, if you’re going to slam your helmet into your skull, there better be blood.
I was in Morgantown during the Owen Schmitt days so this doesn’t impress me in the slightest. Schmitt, the last great fullback to ever walk the Earth, used to do this every single game and would draw blood before going into the game with Pat White and Steve Slaton and run the ball down the opposing defenses throat.

WVU players wouldn’t even bat an eye as Schmitt destroyed his face. Look at these Pitt players look on in terror while Devin Danielson tries to do his best impersonation.
Schmitt continued to do that when he made it to the NFL as a member of the Seahawks.

So yeah, congratulations to Devin Danielson on a winning season with Pitt. If you’re going to go apeshit and smash your own helmet into your face, take a few notes from Owen Schmitt next time and really make it count.
