We’ve already heard multiple reports from many highly-trusted reporters across the baseball scene pointing to Trea Turner joining the Phillies, but to hear the Phils land as the “favorite” is some pretty big news.
Trea Turner is one of, if not the best, shortstop in all of baseball. Turner’s hit .307/.353/.490 in two seasons with the Dodgers, crushing 31 HRs and 128 RBIs while also adding on 38 stolen bases. Turner is a 2x All-Star, a World Champion, and has a batting title.

Turner’s all-around game is what’s most eye-opening about the 29-year-old. He’s posted an above-average OPS+ every season since his rookie year, his OPS has sat above .800 since 2018, and he strikeouts at just a rate of 18% while collecting a 4.9 WAR in 2022, a career-high. With the addition of Turner, Bryson Stott would move back to 2nd base, where he’s always been his best.
Bryce Harper has talked about Turner on multiple occasions in the past, saying that he’s his “favorite player.” Dave Dombrowski has proved that he is willing to spend money if it makes the team better, and it seems like Turner to Philadelphia is becoming more likely by the day.
Make it Happen, Dave.
