Preview: Lightning at Flyers; Tampa looking for revenge

The Philadelphia Flyers take on the Tampa Bay Lightning at home tonight at 7PM. Travis Konecny and Tony DeAngelo will both be game time decisions.

Carter Hart will start in the net and the lineup is going to be entirely up in the air until puck drop.

Here’s a rough projection from earlier today on what we might see when the team hits the ice tonight.

Flyers Projected Lineup vs Lightning

The last time these two teams faced the Flyers snuck away with a comeback win just three games into this season. Since then, Tampa Bay has recovered from a bit of a rough start and are stacking up the points in the standings as expected. It’s a powerhouse hockey organization top to bottom.

Philadelphia won their last time out against New York off of more production out of Kevin Hayes. Despite my criticism I must admit he is producing at an impressive level a quarter of the way in. Hopefully that 12-team list gets leaked in the media shortly.

Travis Konecny is hopefully re-entering the lineup and continuing his amazing start to the year. He was lighting up the scoring sheet while taking steps as a leader in the locker room before he went down with an injury. If he plays I truly hope he plays alongside Morgan Frost.

I don’t expect the Flyers to get a win against this club, but since they are a bit healthier I think it’ll be a better watch than we’ve had lately. It does hurt the Bedard agenda a tad though.

John Tortorella has been giving fantastic press conferences as of late and is preaching the idea of fighting through this dark era to better on the other side of it. It’s about finding out who won’t be here as well as those who should be here for years.

The losses will come and the draft pick will be valuable, but there is something to be said for the amount of effort they put in as opposed to previous teams. They lack any game changing skill which can be a bit rough to watch at times. Hopefully we’re building a foundation and we can look back on this stretch as the beginning of it all.

For now though, we’re going to lose a lot of hockey games.

Prediction: 5-3 Lightning
