WATCH: Giants HC Brian Daboll tries reverse psychology, says Eagles are flawless

Talking down on an upcoming opponent is a no-no for most NFL teams. Especially if said upcoming opponent is the best team in the sport and would like nothing more than to end your season prematurally.
On paper, the New York Giants will be completely overmatched in Week 14 when the 11-1 Philadelphia Eagles come to town. From top to bottom, the Eagles hold the advantage at nearly every position.
The Giants-Eagles rivalry has a long history of hatred tied to it, with each new installment adding to the countless chapters of this cherished head-to-head matchup. With the game just days away, Giants head coach Brian Daboll was asked about what stands out to him when he watches tape of the Eagles.
Instead of brushing it off and continuing the ‘no love lost’ tradition, Daboll tried something a bit different. He decided to praise the Eagles and essentially say they’re a flawless team.

“Everything,” Daboll told reporters when asked what stands out to him on tape when watching the Eagles. “Their defensive line, their receivers, their quarterback, their offensive line . . . Their defense, their corners, they can rush the passer, stop the run. It’s the reason they’re 11-1. They’re a well-rounded football team.”
I respect Daboll’s attempt to perform reverse psychology on the Eagles here, but I’m having none of it.
Look, none of us need to hear about how good we are from the Giants head coach. We already know how good we are. This mumbo jumbo, big-brain strategy from Daboll isn’t going to work, not on us.
If Daboll truly believes what he’s saying here, his team might as well sit this one out, hand the Eagles a forfeited victory, and move onto Washington. That obviously won’t happen. Instead of giving the Eagles bulletin board material and extra motivation for this week’s contest, he’s trying to cozy up to the Birds and their fanbase.
We see through your sick game, Daboll.
Go home and rest up before Sunday, your team’s going to need it.
