Kevin Hayes 2023 NHL All Star

Flyers win fourth straight, Kevin Hayes gets All-Star nod, Travis Konecny snubbed

The Philadelphia Flyers extended their winning streak to four games following a 6-2 win over the Arizona Coyotes tonight at the Wells Fargo Center.

Kevin Hayes was named an NHL All-Star and was also tonight’s player of the game, tallying a goal and two assists in the win. Hayes now has 33 points (9 G, 24 A) in 38 games this season.

Travis Konecny Snub

While Hayes earned the honors tonight, Travis Konecny has been red hot all season long leading the Flyers’ offense with yet another goal and two assists tonight against the Coyotes. If you take a look at what Travis Konecny has done this season, it makes the Hayes All-Star selection a weird one.

TK has 39 points (20 G, 19 A) in five less games and somehow didn’t make the 2023 All-Star team.

Travis Konecny (20) is on FIRE

Regardless, congratulations to Kevin Hayes, who gave a killer interview regarding what he meant for him and his family after becoming an NHL All-Star following the Flyers 6-2 win tonight over the Arizona Coyotes.

“He told me every year, ‘this is going to be the year.'”

Konecny also spoke to the media following tonight’s win and touched on Kevin Hayes getting the All-Star nod.

“He deserves to be there. He’s been carrying the offense on a lot of the offense most of this year. Everyone’s happy for him & he’s a good guy in the locker room. He’s going to be loved when he’s there too.”

John Tortorella on All-Star Game

All that’s great, good stuff from Hayes and TK, so let’s check in with Flyers’ head coach John Tortorella about what he thinks about the NHL All-Star festivities.

“The whole weekend, I don’t even watch it. … I don’t give a shit,” he told The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Giana Han following the Flyers’ 6-2 win against the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday night.

Welp. Alrighty then.

On another note, can the Flyers stop winning hockey games? They have now won four straight games and have scored 3+ GOALS in eight straight. That certainly goes against the campaign to bring Connor Bedard to Philadelphia next year. Simply can’t have it fellas.

Cheers. Check out The Liberty Yell. Best Flyers podcast out there.
