Eagles Injury Updates: Nick Sirianni speaks to media regarding Jalen Hurts, Avonte Maddox, and Lane Johnson following Wednesday’s practice

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni spoke with the media today, giving a positive update on QB Jalen Hurts.
Sirianni said that Hurts was a full participant in practice this week ahead of Saturday’s divisional-round matchup against the New York Giants.Â
As we all know, Hurts, who has been dealing with a shoulder sprain since Week 15, missed two games against the Cowboys and Saints before returning to action in Week 18 against the Giants to guide the Eagles in clinching the No. 1 seed in the NFC and a first-round bye.Â
The Eagles opted to go the conservative route with Hurts in Week 18, limiting designed runs and their traditional RPO sets. Hurts ran for just 13 yards on nine attempts in Week 18, none of which were designed runs.Â
Coach Sirianni gives updates on Avonte Maddox, Jalen Hurts, and Lane Johnson.
“He’s better today than he was two weeks ago,” Sirianni said. “He’s continuing to get better, and he feels good.”

Sirianni also gave an update on Avonte Maddox, simply saying, “we’ll see,” when asked if he would be available on Saturday night. Maddox missed the final two games of the regular season with a toe injury he suffered against the Dallas Cowboys on Christmas Eve.Â
It’ll be interesting to see how Jonathan Gannon employs S CJ Gardner-Johnson in the event that Maddox is unable to go. In Week 18, CGJ played primarily in the nickel with Maddox sidelined, while rookie Reed Blankenship held it down at safety.
As for Lane Johnson, Sirianni didn’t provide much insight on his health status, but all signs are pointing towards the All-Pro right tackle being a full-go. Last week, Johnson told reporters that he didn’t feel much pain going through drills and that he’s encouraged with his recovery.
All in all, the Eagles will be damn close to 100 percent healthy heading into divisional round weekend. We’ll get a clearer picture on Maddox as the week progresses.
