10 Seconds Closer to Freedom: The Doomsday Clock takes a leap, putting the world the closest it’s ever been to Armageddon

The Doomsday Clock has never been closer to a global catastrophe as the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists have officially moved up armageddon 10 seconds closer to midnight today.
The Doomsday Clock
For those unfamiliar with The Doomsday Clock, the countdown is a metaphor for an all-out global collapse, which is agreed upon by “world-renowned experts” at the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists. Buckle up ladies and gentlemen we’re now just 90 seconds away from the fall of mankind and the end of civilization as we know it.
The clock has been set at 100 seconds to midnight since 2020. At the time it was considered the “closest to apocalypse ever” thanks to the disruption of technology and basic life on earth due to COVID-19.
Here’s what these scientists have to say on the clock movement, which jumped 10 seconds today to 90 seconds to midnight.
Russia’s “thinly veiled threats to use nuclear weapons remind the world that escalation of the conflict – by accident, intention or miscalculation – is a terrible risk.
“The possibility that the conflict could spin out of anyone’s control remains high.”
They also pointed out that the last remaining nuclear weapons treaty between Russia and the United States is “in jeopardy”.
They said: “Unless the two parties resume negotiations and find a basis for further reductions, the treaty will expire in February 2026.
“This would eliminate mutual inspections, deepen mistrust, spur a nuclear arms race, and heighten the possibility of a nuclear exchange.”
The scientists were also quick to point out that China’s expansion of their nuclear capabilities is also troubling, along with Iran’s enriched uranium, and India’s development of their own nuclear arsenal.
Other influences on the decision to move the clock forward include the climate crisis and carbon dioxide emissions, the increasing number of bio-threats like COVID-19, and disinformation and disruptive technology.
An alarm for the whole of humanity
Mary Robinson, the first female president of Ireland and former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, said: “The Doomsday Clock is sounding an alarm for the whole of humanity.
Gotta be honest here folks. I’m not a big fan of the Doomsday Clock.
Either put up or shut up. Too many broad strokes with their predictions. I would rather trust that Baby Vanga, the old lady from the Balkins who died years ago but put all of her predictions for the next 50 years in a notebook. She seems more reliable than these “scientists” from an organization that I have never heard of. At least she called out specifics years in advance, right?
Hey Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists: Enough with the shallow threats. Either blow this damn rock into space dust or shut The Doomsday Clock down.
I mean come the fuck on already. Look at these losers. Why are we even entertaining this shit?
I’m really not sure what to believe or who to trust at this point but it sounds like these scientists are just a bunch of babies, scared about what’s happening in the world.
Maybe their scared predictions worked pre-COVID but now we’re rolling through pandemics, baby. You’re going to need more than a dumb clock moving a few seconds closer to armageddon to rattle these feathers.
Russian nuclear threats, the Metaverse, Joe Biden, Chris Simms thinking Daniel Jones is better than Jalen Hurts, and Joel Embiid not winning MVP, you name it. We’re at war every day on planet earth. I’m battle tested and ready to rock. Let’s see what ya got.
You think a clock that looks like this scares me these days? Not a chance.
