Rob Thomson: Bryce Harper is doing ‘really well’ could start hitting when the Phillies return home on Thursday

Believe it or not, we do have a positive update from the Philadelphia Phillies today in regards to Bryce Harper’s surgery recovery.
Rob Thomson told ESPN last night that when the team returns home to Philadelphia on Thursday, Harper could start hitting on the field at Citizens Bank Park, which would progress to live arm at-bats and then “possibly” minor league at bats.
Thomson ended his statement saying that Harper is doing “really well” in his recovery.

Any Phillies fan that read that has to be happy with the update.
The Phillies just got swept in their opening series of 2023 by the Texas Rangers and when you once thought you were going to have a lineup that featured Bryce Harper and Rhys Hoskins as two powerful bats somewhere in the middle of it, running out a lineup last night that included Darick Hall, Josh Harrison, and Cristian Pache was definitely not on the bingo card to start the season.
Still, we should all just find a way to keep our patience and ensure that Harper and everyone else that’s currently injured come back completely healthy. The Phillies just need to tread water and soon enough, they’ll have Harper, Ranger Suarez, and some additional arms to help out the rotation and bullpen.
Baseball season really doesn’t start until June 1st, but when you get swept by the Texas Rangers and now have to go to the Bronx to face the Yankees with an 0-3 record and in last place in the National League, people are rightfully frustrated.
