Darick Hall will have surgery on his right thumb

Phillies 1B Darick Hall has a torn ligament in his right thumb and will undergo surgery.

Hall slid into second base up at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday and would eventually leave the game. The timeline for Hall’s surgery, which is scheduled for Wednesday, is expected to be around “a few months.” Darick Hall was officially moved to the 10-day IL this morning.

The Phillies will now roll with a 1st base platoon until Hall returns, which will be divided up between Alec Bohm and the newest call-up Kody Clemens. Clemens, a left-handed bat, will get the nod for today’s home opener, hitting 8th in today’s starting lineup.

Darick Hall hit .222/.263/.278 in 18 ABs before going down, tallying four hits, one run scored, and one RBI. His return will now come around the time of Bryce Harper’s hopefully return.
