As expected, the “highly-anticipated” Game 3 matchup between Dillon Brooks and LeBron James turned out to be overhyped and honestly, embarrassing for the Memphis Grizzles.

Look, I don’t know why it was considered “highly-anticipated” in the first place but that’s what happens when you have role players like Dillon Brooks talking like they’re starters just two games into a playoff series. 

Dillon Brooks Following Game 2

The media got their headline after Brooks embarrassed himself in the postgame video above after Game 2.

The media and broadcast attempted to hype it up like Game 3 was going to include “The Battle of Brooks vs James” but in reality, it was all pretty stupid to begin with. 

We’re talking about Dillon Brooks and LeBron James. There is literally no comparison.

Anyways, after Brooks told LeBron he was too old after Game 2, the Memphis Grizzles fell behind 35-9 in the first quarter to the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 3 last night and entered halftime down 53-37. 17 seconds into the third quarter, Brooks became the latest NBA player who got himself in trouble by slapping someone in the balls.

Brooks was issued a Flagrant 2 and ejected from the game. In 19 minutes of action, he scored just seven points on 3-of-13 shooting from the floor. Much like Harden’s Flagrant 2 in Game 3 of the Sixers Nets series, I really don’t think he should have been ejected, but when you hit the NBA poster boy in LeBron James square in the nuts, then I guess that was expected. 

So really, all of the above was perfectly fine. Shit happens.

With the Flagrant 2 being issued, Dillon Brooks was tossed from the game but the fact that he then declined to speak with the media following the game is pathetic.

How the hell do you call out LeBron James, then absolutely suck in the next game, and then you won’t even show your face to reporters? 

That is the definition of “fake tough guy” and “soft” all wrapped into one. 

You can’t talk a big game going into Game 3 and then leave the court in a whimper while then refusing to talk to the media. I bet things would have been a little different if Brooks managed to shut down LeBron and the Grizzlies actually won the basketball game right? 

Of course it would have.

Instead, Brooks pretended like none of that ever happened and hid in the locker room while the Grizzlies got their shit kicked in to fall behind 2-1 in the series with the Lakers. LeBron James scored 25 points on 10-of-20 shooting from the floor with nine rebounds, five assists, a steal, and a block.

Funny reminder about the Memphis Grizzlies, a team that is riddled with immaturity and consistently goes out of their way to embarrass themselves. 

That quote from Morant was back in February and last night was just another example of why no one likes the Memphis Grizzlies anymore. They went from a young, exciting basketball team to a bunch of social media trolls.

So yeah, no shit you have lost the respect of basketball fans. No one likes the Grizzlies because you have people like Dillon Brooks talking crazy amounts of shit and then when push comes to shove, curling up into a little ball. 

The Grizzlies are in desperate need of a culture shift and all things considered, that won’t happen until you get guys like Dillon Brooks as far away from Memphis as possible.
