Eagles WR AJ Brown shares strong message regarding Ja Morant’s second IG live incident

On Sunday, Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant was suspended from all Grizzlies and NBA activities after flashing a gun on social media for the second time in roughly two months. Eagles WR AJ Brown saw the IG live video and shared a strong message regarding the situation on his Twitter.
In a series of three Tweets from Brown, the Eagles wideout claimed that popular music (most likely from the hip-hop genre) is poisoning the youth in this country. While he didn’t call out Ja Morant by name, it’s pretty clear who he’s referring to.

Along with pointing the finger at the music industry, the Eagles WR also blamed the people Morant associates himself with for some of his actions.
Morant, 23, is still a young man with a very bright future ahead of him if he gets his act together. Based on the information we have on the young NBA star, it appears he’s always had a great support system around him. He grew up in a two-parent household in a middle-class South Carolina neighborhood. His father put his own basketball career on hold to stay home and raise Morant and his brother; going as far as to build a basketball court in their backyard to train Morant daily.
For some reason or another, Morant has abandoned that upbringing for a more luxurious lifestyle where money, a tough-guy persona, and acting like you have gang ties takes center stage. While the Eagles wideout points to music and the people around him as the culprit, it’s more than likely a large combination of things that anyone outside of Morant’s inner circle cannot speak to with any level of certainty.
As an outsider looking in, Brown isn’t wrong in his assessment. In both instances where Morant toted a gun on IG live, rap music was blaring in the background. But there’s obviously more to it than that. Hip-hop is my favorite genre to listen to. I routinely listen to lyrics that glamorize guns, drugs, and sex. I also have never owned a gun or thought it might be cool to get one and show it off for my followers on social media.
I’m sure Brown himself listens to some of the music Morant likes. Yet, Brown has never done anything to tarnish his reputation off the field during his NFL career.
There comes a point where personal agency and accountability is the only solution. Given Morant’s now lengthy track record of doing stupid shit for social media clout, we’ve clearly arrived at said point.
