NFL approves new rule that allows teams to dress third QB without using a roster spot

After successfully pushing the new rule that allows players to wear the number zero, the Philadelphia Eagles are once again playing a significant role in a rule change for the 2023 NFL season.
On Monday, NFL owners approved a bylaw which will allow teams to carry a third quarterback on their active rosters without sacrificing a roster spot.
NFL will now allow teams to carry three quarterbacks on gameday

This re-implementation of the third QB rule comes in the wake of the Eagles beatdown on the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game, where both of the Niners’ quarterbacks got knocked out of the contest with an injury. San Fran had to resort to RB Christian McCaffrey as their emergency quarterback and as we all know, it didn’t exactly pan out for them.
This rule is more of an attempt to eliminate the risk of an injured QB being forced back into action, rather than giving the injury-decimated team a real chance at winning the ball game. Even though Niners fans will try to tell you their team would have won if they had a third QB.
Another important note on this new rule – the third quarterback can only enter the game if it’s because both of the other QBs went down with injuries. The QB3 cannot be inserted into the game because of a benching, or anything else along those lines.
Now that San Fran got their wish on this QB3 rule, will their constant bitching subside? It’s doubtful, but it’s also hilarious that the echoes of their sobbing actually pushed the NFL to bring this rule back.
I’d like to propose a new rule too, if I may. No more crying about what could have happened if Brock Purdy didn’t get injured in the NFCCG. It should, in theory, relieve a lot of stress and despair from the good shitty people of San Francisco. You guys are already paying six figures for closet-sized apartments, no need to add more stress by focusing on something that’s in the past.
You’ll be happier if you just move on, I promise.
