Report: DeAndre Hopkins hires DeVonta Smith’s agent after being released by Arizona

If we’re being honest with ourselves, the chances of the Eagles signing recently released wideout DeAndre Hopkins are slim to none. But, there is some connective tissue between Hopkins and the Eagles that’s worth discussing.
First, about a week or so before Hopkins officially got cut from Arizona, he mentioned a few quarterbacks he’d love to play with when appearing on the “I AM ATHLETE” podcast. Among those signal callers was the Eagles’ Jalen Hurts.
Once Hopkins got released last week, he went and hired Klutch Sports’ agent Kelton Crenshaw, who also happens to represent Eagles WR DeVonta Smith.
DeAndre Hopkins is now represented by Klutch Sports’ Kelton Crenshaw

Klutch Sports also employs Nicole Lynn, who of course helped Jalen Hurts negotiate the richest contract in NFL history last month.
While the interest level from the Eagles on DeAndre Hopkins is unknown, the All-Pro wideout will have access to multiple players on the roster now that he’s represented through Klutch Sports.
Does it mean anything? Maybe, maybe not.
From what we’ve heard, the Eagles don’t appear to be in the running for Hopkins’ services at the moment. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs are in “an arms race” for the pass catcher. The Eagles will play both of those teams in 2023 – possibly more than once, if you catch my drift.
In the end, the Eagles have bigger needs that could be addressed with their remaining $14.6M in cap space. Adding DeAndre Hopkins to this offense would be amazing, bordering on unfair. Sadly, I don’t see it happening – unless maybe Smitty gets in his ear through Crenshaw.
