WATCH: Jimmy Butler refused to hold the ECF Trophy last night, followed through on promise he made exactly one year ago after Game 7 loss to the Celtics

The Miami Heat finally closed out the Eastern Conference Finals last night in Boston, defeating the Celtics 103-84 in Game 7.
Jimmy Butler scored 28 points and Caleb Martin added 26 as the Miami destroyed Boston to punch their tickets to the NBA Finals against Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets.
With the win, Miami became just the second 8-seed to reach the NBA Finals, joining the 1999 New York Knicks, which happened in a locked-out shortened 50-game regular season.
As we all know, the Celtics were looking to become the first team in 151 tries to win an NBA playoff series after losing the first three games.
Thankfully, that didn’t happen. Instead, Boston became the first city to lose a home Game 7 to an 8th seed in both hockey and basketball in the same season.
Following the game, Jimmy Butler was interviewed on the court at TD Garden. TNT’s Ernie Johnson did interviews with the Heat players and coaches.
When Bam Adebayo went to hand Jimmy Butler the ECF trophy, Butler shook his head in disgust, telling his center that he wasn’t interested in the ECF and that he’ll hold the next one.
Jimmy Butler: “I’ll Hold The Next One…”
That’s some cold blooded stuff from Butler, who has continued to elevate his play throughout the playoffs to lead the Heat to an Eastern Conference Championship.
If you’re brain dead and STILL not convinced that Jimmy Butler is the most confident NBA player still playing basketball, then check out his postgame press conference that happened EXACTLY one year ago after the Heat were eliminated by the Celtics in Game 7 last season.
