Ja Morant’s camp now claims the gun in the second video on Instagram Live was a fake and just a toy

Ja Morant is facing a suspension from the NBA after flashing a gun on Instagram Live TWICE in a matter of months, but now his team is saying that the second incident shouldn’t factor into the punishment because the gun he had was fake.
No seriously. That’s the excuse that Ja Morant and his team is rolling out to Adam Silver and league officials who are about to dish out his punishment for acting like an idiot on social media.
During Monday’s episode of “The Breakfast Club” on Power 105.1 FM in New York, Claudia Jordan stated that she was told by “sources” the second gun Morant had on Instagram Live was fake.
Ja Morant Camp: “The NBA knows it was a toy gun”
“My sources say that a relative in the car in the back seat had a toy gun in the car. The gun is not real,” Jordan said she was told. “He was playing around with it and passed it over to Ja and that got caught on the Instagram live. (Morant) had it in his hand.
“The video was sent to (NBA commissioner) Adam Silver and the NBA, allegedly, and the gun looked extremely fake, like it’s obviously a toy gun. But, according to my source, Adam Silver is still gonna go through with the suspension. It’s looking like it could be about 30 games, even though they know it was a toy gun.”
Honestly, this is like when I told my parents that after finding a pack of matches on the ground and boarding the middle school bus, one accidentally lit on fire in after the bus went over a speed bump.
To Note: I told that to my dad who at the time, was a long-time cigarette smoker.
Point being, it really looks just as bad, almost worse trying to now claim the gun was fake in attempt to limit the penalty that the NBA is about to give out to Morant.
Good effort though, I guess?
Even if the gun was “fake” that really doesn’t make it any less stupid on Morant and his friend’s part. After getting caught with a real gun, Morant’s camp is now on Instagram Live with a fake one?
Come on bro. Seriously? Also worth noting that there was never any mention of the gun being fake by Ja Morant in his apology.
Okay so if the gun was fake, in the video Morant is still listening to the same music and acting the same way he did before, wanting to appear to be a person that he has adamantly claimed he is not by flashing a fake gun in the front seat of his car while his good friend films them and ultimately, pulls the camera down when Morant is holding the “fake” gun.
How is that any better? Also, if the NBA “knows the gun is fake” then why haven’t they come out and said so? Something isn’t adding up.
Regardless, the realness of the gun really doesn’t matter.
Yes, I know that rap music and rap videos are filled with “fake guns” and “fake money” which apparently, Morant’s camp is trying to use as justifications for his actions but I think they are missing the overall point that the NBA is a business and they do not want their employees flashing any type of guns, real or fake, on social media to a younger audience that looks up to them and at times, idolizes them, as they do Morant.
To go this route seems a bit childish and honestly, insulting to NBA fans but maybe it will work. I should say, that I’m not in the camp of throwing the book at Morant and I hope the NBA goes the rehabilitation route and works with him to hopefully clean up his image and this mess that he’s made for himself.
The NBA needs generational talents like him to be the face of the league and the 23-year old Morant is a rising star with unlimited potential.
According to multiple reports, the suspension is thought to be around 30 games. If Ja Morant was smart, he and his camp would just shut up and take it on the chin while working to repair his tarnished image and get back in good graces with the NBA and his fanbase.
