Eagles’ Dallas Goedert says Jalen Hurts is right behind Patrick Mahomes in NFL QB rankings

On Wednesday, Eagles TE Dallas Goedert sat down with the Pardon My Take podcast to discuss all things Birds ahead of the 2023 season.

As expected, the question of where does Eagles QB Jalen Hurts rank among his peers came up. Unlike Justin Jefferson and his top-5 QB rankings, Goedert told the PMT crew that his QB is one of the best in the business, going as far as to say, “he’s top-two in the league, and he’s not number two.”

“You could say [Hurts] got good talent around him. No, he’s a dog,” Goedert says. “I think he should be top-three, top-two. It’s hard to take anything away from Patrick [Mahomes]. You go down that list, there’s probably 10 quarterbacks that could be in the top-five, depends on what fanbase you are. Personally speaking, Jalen is in the top-two, and he’s not two.”

While there are still some Jalen Hurts skeptics out there, a good portion of them converted to Hurts truthers after his performance in Super Bowl 57. He outplayed Mahomes on the sport’s biggest stage, scoring four total touchdowns while compiling 374 yards of total offense.

You’d be hard pressed to find a top-5 QBs list without Hurts on it. There are definitely some out there, but they’re few and far between.

QB1 and the rest of his Eagles teammates will be reporting to training camp in just a few weeks, giving Hurts another opportunity to silence the remaining critics.
