Shohei Ohtani Bat Flip

WATCH: Shohei Ohtani destroys a game-tying two-run home run, bat flips all over the New York Yankees

Shohei Ohtani buried the New York Yankees last night, hitting a game-tying two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Angels would go on to win 4-3 in extras.

Shohei Ohtani Game-Tying 2-Run Home Run

Ohtani murdered the that baseball and added a ‘bat flip’ to rub it in the Yankees face as he made his way down the first base line.

Honestly, it’s pretty amazing how opposing teams still challenge Shohei Ohtani on a nightly basis.

The Angels are now one game under the .500 mark at 47-48 on the season. They have lost seven out of their last 10 games and sit 5.5 games back of an AL Wild Card spot, so they do have a fighting chance to stay relevant over the second half of the MLB season.

Note: Staying relevant could mean not trading Ohtani at the MLB Trade Deadline in a few weeks.

Regardless, the question remains…How isn’t anyone simply giving Shoehi Ohtani the “Barry Bonds” treatment at this point in the season?

Ohtani now has a league-leading 35 home runs. On the year, he’s slashing .306/.391/.677 with a 1.068 OPS. He has 75 RBI, 51 walks, 16 doubles, and 6 triples.

The guy is literally unstoppable and teams like the New York Yankees, also fighting for an AL Wild Card spot (2.5 games out) pitching to him up 3-1 in the bottom of the seventh inning with two outs.

Say whatever you want, but that simply doesn’t make sense.

If someone just showed me a picture of where that pitch was thrown last night with Ohtani at the plate, I would have immediately known he was going to hit that out of the park.

Just a crucial mistake from the New York Yankees and honestly, it couldn’t have happened to a better team.
