WATCH: Trea Turner ejected for throwing gear to bat boy to cap off terrible 0 for 3, two error night

Woof. That’s a tough headline. Trea Turner was, in fact, ejected for disagreeing with a called strike three from home plate umpire Will Little.
Trea Turner Ejected After Arguing Called Strike 3
It also didn’t help that the strike-out brought him to 0 for 3 at the plate on top of two ghastly errors. The Phillies’ $300 million shortstop has committed 12 errors this season a year removed from having an even lower fielding percentage, when he committed a career-worst 16 errors with the Los Angeles Dodgers.Â
Trea Turner was none too pleased with the call, sticking around to talk to the ump about it while removing his batting gear:
Damn, what a brutal way to get tossed. Should Trea have walked away from the ump and done nothing? Sure, but he didn’t do a single thing wrong. The worst you could say he did was toss his gear in a slightly frustrated manner, but how does that warrant an ejection?
The whole game, you could tell something was off with him, and his year-long struggles did nothing but continue for the few innings he did play.
I will say you can’t totally blame Turner for not wanting to play in a game where Rob Thomson isn’t challenging dropped baseballs from Aaron Hicks and rolling out a lineup that features Harrison-Cave-Stubbs at the bottom of the order.
Of course, Trea Turner wasn’t doing much to help the team with two errors, the second of which was a total backbreaker.
What can I say? It just wasn’t Trea Turner’s night… as usual.
The best part of watching the whole exchange live was NBC Sports Philly cutting to a commercial as soon as the ump tossed Trea. I was sitting there watching some ad for insurance or something, looking at my TV like this.
