Roster Moves: Eagles work out group of WRs as training camp gets underway

NFL training camp kicks off this week and the Eagles didn’t waste any time bringing in additional bodies.

According to multiple reports, Philadelphia worked out former first-round pick N’Keal Harry on Tuesday.

Harry, 25, last played with the Chicago Bears after three years in England. At 6’4, 225 pounds, Harry has the prototypical size of an NFL receiver but never lived up to his draft stock. Harry caught seven of eight targets for 116 yards and a touchdown last season.

The Eagles also worked out (and eventually signed) WR Deon Cain, who spent time with Philadelphia last preseason. Cain had a successful campaign in the USFL this past year, leading the Birmingham Stallions to a championship and earning MVP honors.

Behind star WRs AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith, the Eagles don’t have much reliable depth at receiver. Deon Cain hopes to crack the final-53 in training camp and add some insurance.

Other names worked out on Tuesday:

  • LB Marcus Allen
  • T Quinton Barrow
  • WR JaVonta Payton
  • S DeAndre Houston-Carson
  • C Ahofitu Maka

Eagles players reported to camp today and will participate in their first practice on Wednesday.
