Injury Update: Ranger Suarez will throw to hitters today, could rejoin Phillies’ rotation later this week

On August 19th, the Philadelphia Phillies placed Ranger Suarez on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to August 16th) with a right hamstring strain.
Last Friday, Suarez threw a bullpen session and today, he will throw to hitters with hopes of joining the Phillies’ rotation by Friday for the start of a three-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers.

On the season, Suarez is 2-6 with a 3.88 ERA. His last start was on August 13th, where he gave up six hits and two earned runs over 6+ innings of work while striking out eight and walking three.
Over his last seven starts, Suarez has pitched 41 innings, posting a 0-3 record with a 4.17 ERA. He struck out 34 and walked 17 during that span.
Fresh off a weekend sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals, the Phillies will close out the month of August against the Los Angeles Angels starting tonight at 6:40PM.
