Alexei Kolosov posts 1st shutout of Season amidst Michkov Drama

In case you’ve been too busy trying to call Roman Rotenberg to give him a piece of your mind because of Matvei Michkov sitting for the first two games of the KHL season, another Flyers prospect opened some eyes today. Yes! Positive news!

Alexei Kolosov, the 78th overall pick in the 2021 draft, had a 26-save shutout today for Dinamo Minsk of the KHL. In 2022-2023, Kolosov had a 13-21-5 record with a 2.55 GAA and a .912 sv%. He signed his ELC with the Flyers in July and was loaned back by Danny Briere.

Today’s shutout is also Alexei’s 3rd total shutout in the KHL.

It’s nice to have depth in a position that has a serious question mark around it going into the next couple of years. What happens with Hart? What do they do with Petersen? Does this Fedotov stuff ever get resolved? There are just so many questions, and quite honestly, a sad energy surrounding the position right now that the depth they have is going to be much needed.

But, breathe (for now), the Flyers have another young goalie who plays in the KHL that looks to potentially be something.

Screw it, give me all of the goalies.

Carter Hart, Samuel Ersson, Felix Sandstrom, Ivan Fedotov (maybe), Alexei Kolosov, Carson Bjarnason, Yergor Zavragin, and Matej Tomek are a solid core of goalies.

When have we ever been able to sit here and say “Hey, the Flyers have some promising goalie prospects.” And now we’re talking about potentially having multiple guys that could be high-end starters in the league? I’m here for all of that.
