Eagles Week 2 PFF Grades: Jordan Mailata posts the best marks of his career; Jordan Davis impresses for second-straight week

Another week, another Eagles PFF grades roundup.
Philly’s Week 2 outing against Minnesota left a little bit to be desired, but there were definitely more positives than negatives. For starters, the defensive line was elite for the second straight week. They got after Kirk Cousins all night, racking up 20 pressures, nine QB hurries, and two sacks. The run defense was also stellar once again, holding the Vikings to just 28 yards on the ground, thanks in large part to the aforementioned defensive front.
Offensively, the ground game was the story of Thursday night. More specifically, D’Andre Swift. In his Philly homecoming, Swift posted a career-high 175 yards on 28 carries and found the end zone once. Jalen Hurts and the passing game still needs some work, but at the end of the day, the team is 2-0 and that’s all we can really ask for.
Let’s get into some PFF grades.

Jordan Mailata, Boston Scott, and D’Andre Swift lead the way offensively
As I mentioned earlier, the Eagles rushing attack was unstoppable Thursday night. Led by Jordan Mailata and his career-best 96.9 offensive grade, the offensive line was paving the way for the Eagles backs all night long.
Somewhat surprisingly, Boston Scott led the backfield in PFF grading, earning an 87.6 offensive grade for the night. He rushed for 40 yards on eight carries. Swift came in right behind scott on the report card; he finished the night with a 76.2 offensive mark.
Behind the top-three, we have Lane Johnson with a 74.1, DeVonta Smith at 74.0, and QB1, Jalen Hurts, coming in with a 74.0 – a solid improvement from his Week 1 marks.
Jalen Hurts’ grades improve from Week 1
Even though Hurts still hasn’t had a signature performance this season, Week 2 was a step in the right direction. He bumped his Week 1 grade from 58.8 to 74.0 against the Vikings. His first half interception was ugly, but aside from that, he was pretty efficient with the football.
Hurts ended the contest completing 78 percent of his throws for 193 yards and one touchdown, while posting a 98.0 passer rating.
With 11 days off between Week 2 and Week 3, it should give Hurts and the rest of the Eagles offense ample time to shore up their passing attack.

Josh Sweat, Jordan Davis, and Avonte Maddox lead the way defensively
Like the offensive side of the ball, the Eagles dominated in the trenches defensively. Something we should expect each and every week.
Josh Sweat led the way in defensive grading, posting one of the best marks of his career at 92.1, along with a 92.6 pass rushing grade. He was a constant force in Sean Desai’s pass rush, totaling eight pressures, four QB hits, and one sack.
Right behind Sweat, we have the big fella, Jordan Davis. For the second straight week, Davis impressed, earning an 85.7 defensive grade. Davis, once again, affected the Vikings running game from start to finish. But he was more effective as a pass rusher Thursday night, posting an 89.5 pass rush grade on the night.
Rounding out the top-three we had Avonte Maddox, who unfortunately will likely be out for the season after tearing his pec in Week 2. He finished the night with an 83.8 defensive grade and created a turnover by forcing an Alexander Mattison fumble in the first half.
Some defensive honorable mentions include Nicholas Morrow (75.6), Justin Evans (71.0), Zach Cunningham (68.1), and Jalen Carter (64.8).
