Backwards Hat Theory: Colin Cowherd says Brock Purdy is not an adult or franchise quarterback because of his podium attire

Sound the alarms! Colin Cowherd has declared that San Francisco 49ers quarterback and known frat boy dork face Brock Purdy can no longer be considered a reliable option to be the team’s franchise quarterback. 

In a clip from The Herd with Colin Cowherd, the FS1 host claims that the San Francisco 49ers being road favorites against the Philadelphia Eagles ‘doesn’t make a lot of sense’ which if you know football and have watched Jalen Hurts and company win football games week after week, you’d probably agree with that statement.

You’re also probably opening up whatever sportsbook app you use to hammer the Philadelphia Eagles moneyline which is also the correct move. For whatever reason, every major sportsbook has the Eagles -3 (-110) on against the spread and +130 on the moneyline for Sunday’s matchup against the 49ers. That is insulting.

So yes, while everyone is in agreement that the Eagles being home dogs on Sunday is insulting and makes zero sense, Cowherd then took it a step further and re-introduced his highly debatable ‘Backwards Hat Theory’ while targeting none other than 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy.

Listen, I wasn’t a fan of Cowherd and the backwards hat theory when he was targeting one of our own in Carson Wentz but in hindsight, that turned out to be completely true so there’s a good chance that he’s onto something yet again with Purdy.

Do other quarterbacks wear backwards hat and find success? Absolutely. You have Tom Brady, known backwards hat wearer but I’m not even convinced that Brady is human so I don’t think he can be considered as someone who discredits what Cowherd is saying. 

Side Note: I’ve seen people comment that Joe Burrow also wears a backwards hat like that was going to debunk what Cowherd is saying. Please, do not include Joe Burrow in this conversation. He’s a good quarterback but under no circumstances are we going to consider him elite. Thank you.
