Eagles head of security Dom DiSandro and San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw both ejected after altercation on the sidelines
San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw and Eagles head of security Dom DiSandro were both tossed in the third quarter of yesterday’s blowout 49ers win against the Birds.
On the play that led to the incident, Greenlaw was penalized for basically body slamming DeVonta Smith to the ground on the sideline after a catch.
DiSandro, who was standing on the sidelines right where the incident happened, then got into it with Greenlaw, which the 49ers’ linebacker took issue with as referees attempted to separate the two.

NFL Senior Vice President of Officiating Walt Anderson provided an explanation to Zach Berman as to why DiSandro was removed from the sideline:
“The officials had a flag on the field for a personal foul by San Francisco No. 57, and then there was continuing action. And so what Rule 19 allows us to do is provide assistance by looking at the video. And we saw video that showed that there was a staff person that made contact with the player and that the player involved, No. 57, made contact with the staff member which warranted his disqualification. The non-player, he was contributing to that escalation. Rule 19 does not afford us the ability to help the officials in throwing a flag that they do not throw for a non-player. That’s only afforded for a player action.” [NBC Sports Philly]
49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan wasn’t happy postgame
"I just can't believe someone not involved in a football game can taunt our players like that, and put their hands in our guy's face."

There was definitely a jolt of energy after the incident for the Philadelphia Eagles. Jalen Hurts and company scored on that possession to cut into the 49ers lead.

Unfortunately, that momentum was quickly squandered on the next 49ers possession. Deebo Samuel hauled in a catch up the middle for 48 yards and a touchdown to extend the 49ers lead to 28-13 heading into the fourth quarter, essentially putting the final nail in the Eagles’ coffin as they went on to lose in embarrassing fashion, 42-19.
We’ll have to wait and see how the NFL handles this situation. They have been pretty strict in their messaging on non-players engaging with players on the sidelines so I doubt this ends well for Big Dom DiSandro. On top of that, we just witnessed an NFL Photographer get suspended after participating in a TD celebration with Miami Dolphins’ wide receiver Tyreek Hill so my guess is that the Greenlaw and DiSandro incident will be used as another example of what not to do during a game.
