WATCH: Future Eagles draft pick Javon Bullard posts Georgia tribute video
The Eagles’ Super Bowl aspirations have ended and if you’re a die-hard like myself, that means NFL draft season is officially upon us.
This year, fans will almost certainly be even more invested in the NFL draft process because of how things panned out for the Eagles.
The defensive side of the ball would likely be the focus, but with Jason Kelce potentially retiring, who knows? Maybe they draft an offensive lineman in the first few rounds.
Or, they do the right thing and take the best possible player available.
It’s still very early, but Georgia Safety Javon Bullard has been mocked for being selected when the Eagles will be on the clock at pick 22. It’s worth noting that it’s still very early, and there’s always the possibility that he falls or gets selected much higher than anticipated.
Javon Bullard: Future Eagles Safety/DB
You’re probably wondering who this guy is and why I’m so enamored with him. For one, he’s very athletic and can cover… What stood out to me when reading countless scouting reports is that many people compare him to former Eagles safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson.
CGJ was personally a favorite of mine and someone the team so desperately missed this year.
The Garden-Johnson comparisons come because Bullard is so versatile. He’s an intelligent and instinctual player who can play multiple positions, such as nickel corner or safety.
While I’m still determining how much it will translate to the NFL, it’s worth mentioning that Georgia used him in many blitz packages similar to Nakobe Dean. So clearly, we are talking about a true Swiss Army Knife defender here.
The Bottom line is that the Eagles’ defense needs a lot of help and young talent. So, don’t be surprised if Howie Roseman goes back to the Georgia Bulldogs well again this year.
