Joel Embiid Dr J Nikola Jokic

NBA legend Julius ‘Dr. J’ Erving was in attendance for Sixers vs Nuggets, probably left the game disappointed after Joel Embiid dominated Nikola Jokic

Philadelphia 76ers legend Julius Erving, better known as “Dr. J” was in attendance for what was to date, the best game of the 2023-24 NBA season.

Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic squared off in one of the best games of the entire NBA season, and the former led the Sixers to a 126-121 win highlighted by a dominant 42-point performance from The Process.

This game featured arguably the two very best players in the NBA; Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid. As we all know, the two elite centers have sat atop of the rankings for the coveted NBA MVP Award over the past few seasons.

While Jokic has one more MVP and an NBA championship over Embiid, unfortunately whenever the two play against each other, Embiid absolutely dominates.

In the 8 games they’ve played against each other Embiid’s won six of them and has better averages in every category except assists.

Joel Embiid vs Nikola Jokic: Head-to-Head Stats

Side Note: It certainly makes you wonder what a Sixers vs. Nuggets Finals could be like…would be epic.

Unfortunately, Dr. J most likely left the game disappointed.

Joel Embiid: 41 PTS, 7 REB, 10 AST

Nikola Jokić: 25 PTS, 20 REB, 3 AST

Listen, I’m not just going to forget what the legend himself said about Embiid vs Jokic (on numerous occasions) in the past and until he apologizes, it’s safe to assume that Dr. J is an enemy of the state and nothing more than a Jokic Stan and Nuggets fan.

Sorry old heads on Facebook, just because he played back in your day doesn’t mean he gets a pass for everything. I’m not denying any of the amazing things he did for the game of basketball and I know damn well he was the main reason why the Philadelphia 76ers won an NBA championship back in 1983, but when he’s speaking with the media and saying shit like this, I just can’t turn a blind eye.

Dr. J on MVP race (2022)

“I’m hopeful that Embiid wins it – he does talk about it and it’s something that is one of those carrots out there that he’s reaching for – but I think the most deserving guy is Jokic,” Erving said. “He hasn’t missed any games. Night in and night out, he’s one better than he did last year. He was MVP last year. When you get better, I don’t think you lose status. Not if it’s a fair fight.”

“I’m going to pull for Embiid because he’s my guy. And Antetokounmpo, who knows how he’s going to finish up? But both Embiid and Antetokounmpo have missed several weeks of play. Jokic has been out there every night.”

Yeah sorry, that’s a violation Mr. Erving.

It feels like a Donovon Mcnabb-esque move to passive-aggressively diss a current star in the city of Philadelphia.

I’ll never understand that personally, as I think you should put your arms around a current star in Philly, sort of like how Allen Iverson conducts himself, but hey, it ain’t my decision at the end of the day.

Just apologize, Mr. Erving, and all will be okay.

  1. I find this to be total bullshit. The Dr. stated how Embiid misses lots of games, where was he wrong? I say it all the time that the truth still matters and the Dr. told the truth which is a loss art in American society. And the writer needs to truly understand this so our country don’t continue on a downward spiral.

  2. Who is this jerk that wrote this post? I saw nothing wrong with what he said and I’m a huge Joel fan. You know absolutely nothing about Dr J or this team so why don’t you take your horrible talent to say maybe the Celtics?
