Jay Gruden vs. RGIII: The Twitter beef nobody asked for takes center stage
Remember the storied beef between former Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III and his head coach Jay Gruden? Me neither, but apparently, there was a lot of bad blood between the two that dates all the way back to 2014.
This little Twitter scuffle began during the Eagles Wildcard loss to Tampa Bay, where Jay Gruden Tweeted that he’d never let a QB face that much pressure without doing anything about. To which RGIII responded with this:
Jay Gruden then responded with this:
It culminated in RGIII going on his podcast to throw Gruden under the bus for not having his back while the two were in Washington together. Gruden of course saw this and once again responded:
Long story short, RGIII threw his own teammates under the bus indirectly, giving Gruden the chance to then throw his quarterback under the bus to the media. Ever since, the two clearly don’t like each other. It ended with a few cheeky Tweet from Jay Gruden, including one that may or may not be real, but it’s still hilarious and actually pretty spot on.

Here’s the one he kept up, which is also hilarious in its own right.

Honestly, I barely remember this whole situation. I think I was just graduating high school in 2014 and my memory when it comes to anything but the Eagles is pretty foggy. From my perspective, RGIII is always looking for attention on social media and has become one of the corniest dudes on TV, so for that, I’m going to side with Gruden.
